Party Poker
Party Poker is a leading on-line poker room, and without a doubt the largest, at any given moment they have tens of thousands of players playing. Because they are so popular their Sit and Go poker tournaments have been known to fill up in less than a minute. With Party Poker waiting for a game to start is not a problem, the problem is trying to find a seat at a table before it's taken.
Party Poker has tables that offer Texas Hold'em, Omaha Hi, Omaha 8 or Better, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud 8 or Better poker games. These games are offered in limit, pot limit and no-limit formats and both ring games and tournaments are played. While ring games are offered and played, it is their tournament offerings that make Party Poker a force in the poker world. They host and have hosted some feature tournaments including several online guaranteed Million Dollar tournaments, and they are hosting a World Poker Tour event, The Party Poker Million. This tournament offers 180 place winners part of an estimated $7,000,000 prize pool (with a first place prize of $1,300,000). The tournament starts off with players paying an entry fee of $32 to enter online satellites, and finishes up in a face-to-face poker tournament on the way to Mexico aboard a luxury cruise ship.
Party Poker offers a series of more modest tournaments (although it is the huge feature tournaments that get the site the most attention). A variety of Sit and Go tournaments are offered at single and multi-tables, for those players who want to play right away rather than waiting for the scheduled starting time of a regular tournament. Party Poker also runs STEP tournaments. A STEP tournament is actually a series of five tournaments (there is a 10 player series and a 20 player series) where the players start at level one and the winners progress through the levels until level five is reached. The fees for entry to the level one tournament total $12 and the winner of the level five tournament wins $9,000 (if playing the 20 player series) or $4,500 (if playing the 10 player series). Players advance to the next level by winning the lower level tournament or they can pay a larger entry fee. Players winning at level one go on to level two and so on until the fifth and final level is reached. At the fifth tournament table the top four players will split a nice little pot ($10,000 for the 10 player series or $20,000 for the 20 player series).
Party Poker looks after its' players by offering bonuses to them. There are two types of bonuses at Party Poker; an introductory one to welcome new players and also a point reward system for room members who play regularly. First time players are given a introductory bonus of $25 in bonus money for making even a small deposit, if they make a large deposit Party Poker will give them 20% of the value of the deposit (maximum $100) in bonus money. All new tournament players also receive a bonus of free entry into the Party Poker Million, Party Pokers World Poker Tournament event. So as not to forget their regular poker players Party Poker awards them Party Points for time spent playing at the real money poker tables. When a player accumulates enough of these Party Points they can redeem them for merchandise.
